5 Predictions for 2011 on Marketing Online

This is the beginning of a new year a bit special, because we have a Google that feels, for the first time in years, that Facebook it's on its heels and increasingly strong and voracious; Twitter is becoming the "voice" of the world; Smartphones become more and more present in the life of people making the boom of mobile web sites almost inevitable. Internet is evolving at dizzying steps, as never before.

This will be an interesting year, certainly with more changes and developments than in 2010.

Therefore, these are the predictions for 2011 in Marketing Online and suggested Actions to take

2011 Prediction # 1 - The mobile navigation finally take off

This 2011 will be the start of the boom in web site development for Smartphone. Don't miss out.

This year will be the definitive takeoff of websites for mobiles. Why? The tendency to use Smartphones increases more and more, there are few phones in the market without Internet and the ability to manage social networks. Every day when I go to bed, like many others, I check my emails and maybe read some articles through my Blackberry, and do the same when I wake up in the morning.

Mobile phones today intend to give the user a comprehensive solution to manage all the social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, etc.) and to allow faster and simple browsing of web sites

Check your statistics and you`ll see that each time there are more visitors from mobile devices that come via Social Networks (Facebook and Twitter in particular).

This 2011 will be the start of the boom in web sites development for Smartphone. Do not miss out.

ACTIONS
The first thing to do is navigate your own website from a Blackberry or iPhone (if you have not already done it) and become aware of your current status.
If you see something similar to the Güernica painting by Pablo Picasso, probably it is a good idea to ask your Web Agency the cost of having your site compatible for mobiles
.

2011 Prediction # 2 - Social Networking searches, mainly in Twitter will continue to rise.

The finder of Twitter, for example, is highly efficient to know "what he's talking about" a certain city or region, what are the topics.

Not only I have done it, but other people already have told me that many of the searches they do in Internet, are made directly in Facebook or Twitter, depending on the type of search. Facebook has a lot to improve as a seeker, a lot, but it is a fact that each day more people are browsing Facebook and decide to make their searches right there.

The Twitter search, for example, is highly efficient to know "what it is talking about" certain city or region, what are the topics. By a few simple clicks you can know what is happening right now anywhere in the world. An excellent source for listening.
Google will continue yielding a small percentage of the search market to the various Social Networks, mainly Facebook and Twitter.

ACTIONS
If you currently do not have a presence in Twitter and Facebook, you should do it right now. Create a
company page in Facebook and a Twitter account.
Enter the
Twitter search and began to look for phrases related to your products or services, think from  your customers point of view . Do the same on Facebook, even though it has many shortcomings, many people are using it for convenience.

2011 Prediction # 3 - Facebook and Twitter continue their rapid growth

Facebook is growing rapidly, often stumbling over himself. Twitter is growing more serious, more orderly. Either way: We will have a 2011 very, very social!

This is not a prediction, is something very obvious.
Twitter and Facebook are here to stay and to continue growing. Today an Internet Marketing Plan is no longer conceived without a serious strategy for Twitter and Facebook. There are a lot of benefits in Facebook for your business. Not only they generate new leads, but also have a direct impact on search engine optimization of your website, both Google, Yahoo! and Bing. Everything indicates that for this 2011, this tendency of "listening" to Social Networks from the search engines will be further strengthened.
Facebook is growing rapidly, often stumbling over himself. Twitter is growing more mature, more orderly. Either way: We will have a 2011 very, very social!

ACTIONS
You know now: If you are not in Facebook and Twitter, do so now.
Try not to jump into the pool without knowing how deep it is. Investigate, read, get advice. It is not Advanced Science nor something complex, it just requires a little planning and education. First listen (read blogs, analyze your competition, dive into their industry) and then talk (participate).

2011 Prediction # 4 - more videos, less reading

If a picture speaks more that thousand words...how much talk a video!

Although Video Marketing is very trite and known for some companies or sectors, it is not so well for the great majority of Small Businesses who live a life more “offline”.

95% of people entering your website look quickly at the titles and images, and leave if these have not caught their attention. If you are one of the few that have a video on your home page, it is the first thing your visitors will visualize, but not all ... only the first 20 or 30 seconds. If you did not get to them in that short time, they’ll lose all interest and will quit the site.

The times to capture the attention of our visitors are reduced more and more.  We have less seconds to induce our visitors to action, whatever: buy, download, subscribe to an email, etc.
The 2011 will be the time when Small Businesses will be aware of the benefits that a video can offer in collaboration with Social Networks and the blog of your company.

If a picture is worth a thousand words ... how much more is a video!

ACTIONS
Begin researching your competition, its field or industry, read articles on the Video Marketing, begin to analyze businesses like yours in the United States and England.
Search in Google for their keywords, products or services, see if the early results are videos.  See for which keywords the first results in Google are Youtube’s videos.

2011 Prediction # 5 - The year of the change of status

You should develop a plan for Facebook that includes at least one state change per day to generate comments, motion

During this year Facebook will force us to change the status often if we want to get more visibility and thus more fans in our Facebook pages.  This is rather complex for a company that has no free time nor resources to do this, but you will have to develop a plan for Facebook that includes at least one change of status per day to generate comments, motion.

ACTIONS
Start testing on your  Facebook page, make a change of status  thinking in generating comments, but don´t be obsessed. Ask questions, let your fans to get involved.  In my opinion, this will be the backbone of the marketing for Facebook  in 2011.
If you do not receive feedback do not despair. The great majority of people does not participate or does not comment, but they will see it. If you are offering relevant and useful information, your audience will be listening, even if not participating, they will be there reading. Do not get impatient and keep going, follow your plan without hesitation
.

Final Conclusion

As you know, this 2011 will be a very social year that will require better planning to capture the attention of your visitors. The generation of content will continue being the support of the positioning in searches, as well as the active participation in social networks.

The marketing video and images will have greater weight in the Google search results as well as the "Holders" of Facebook.
